AT THE MENTION OF HIS NAME

Romans 10:13 (NIV) “Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.”

A child was spoken of years before he was ever born by a prophet who said He would be called Wonderful Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace. (Isa. 9:6)  Hundreds of years later just before He was born He was even Named by the Holy Spirit. (Mt. 1:21) That Name has held more power than any other name in history. That Name is above and beyond all names. (Phil. 2:9) It’s a Name that cannot be equaled with any other because there is no name to compare it with.  It’s a Name that will not only soothe, still and calm but also heals the brokenhearted and binds them up. (Isa. 61:1) It’s a Name that comforts all who mourn and provides for those who grieve. (Isa. 61:2) It’s a Name that changes even the hardest of hearts and harshest of ways and a Name that can be called on to save even the vilest of sinners. It’s a Name that cannot be called upon without something supernatural to happen on the inside of the heart of the speaker.  It’s a Name that can be called upon in the deepest and darkest of nights when words are not easily found. It’s a Name that is so powerful that when it is spoken aloud, demons tremble because they know exactly who He is. (As referenced in Luke 8:26-33) It’s a Name that can be called upon for the healing of any need.  And at just the mention of that Name, even though in just a whisper, He will hear us. That Name that I speak of is none other than . . . JESUS!

This man Jesus came into contact with thousands whose lives were never the same as He walked the earth. Even though the Pharisees doubted Him and the Sadducees didn’t see things His way, nevertheless, Jesus was still the Son of God. What they believed or questioned in their minds never changed one thing! John 1:10-12 (NIV) tells us: “He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own but His own did not receive Him.  Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God.”

This Jesus, the Son of God, is and was the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation and reflection of the Father.  Once Jesus paid the price at Calvary, He ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of our Majestic Father in heaven.  He was superior to the angels because the Name He inherited was superior to theirs.  God never told one angel, “You are my Son,” or “I will be your Father.”  He only said that to one and that One was Jesus.  (As referenced in Heb. 1:3-5)

What a glorious Name, this Name of Jesus! That Name is to be exalted and praised and lifted high for the entire world to hear about!  I know there have been times that I have had no words because the words got stuck in my throat.  Have you ever been there? I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t talk, all I could do was cry because of my brokenness, but somehow I gathered enough strength to whisper the Name of Jesus.  I called upon His Name and He was there to calm and heal me.  He had never left me like the enemy of my soul wanted me to believe.  My Jesus heard even my whisper and immediately rushed to help me and sent angels to minister in my greatest time of need. He wiped my tears and treasured them enough to put them in a bottle. (Ps. 56:8 KJV) It was then that I lifted up the Name of Jesus in praise and exultation and He was honored and blessed from my praise.

Oh how I thank You my Lord because You are worthy of praise and glory and honor!  I will praise You all the days of my life.  I owe You my life Lord!  I cannot go a day without praising You.  You are worthy Lord!  You are worthy Lord!  As the song says:  “Evermore I will love You.  Evermore I will serve You.  Evermore I will glorify the Name of the Lord.  Evermore I’ll adore You.  Evermore I bow before You.  I will bless Your Name forevermore.” I will call upon Your Name at all times.  You are worthy Jesus to receive all praise and glory!  I am humbled by Your goodness to me.  At the mention of Your Name Lord, marvelous things happen.  In just mentioning Your NAME there is peace and calm in the storm.  When storm clouds encircle me, You are there when I call upon Your Name.  There is healing that will take place when we call upon Your precious Name! What a healing Lord! How awesome is Your Name Jesus! There’s POWER in Your Name.  There’s forgiveness in Your Name!  Thank You Jesus!

We are guaranteed that everyone who calls on that Name, the Name of Jesus, no less, will be saved.  (Rom. 10:13)  This reveals to us that there is POWER in His Name. There are no “maybes” and “what ifs” in God’s Word, just promises, to everyone who will receive and believe them.  In that Name salvation is found and there is no other Name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.  (Acts 4:12)

This Jesus that came to earth and humbled Himself to die on a cross took on the very nature of a servant. Then God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the Name that is above every Name. One day “every knee will bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord all for the glory of God the Father.”  Yes, one day everyone will bow!  (As referenced in Phil. 2:7-11)  I chose to bow now, how about you?

And one day this same Jesus that ascended into heaven and whom we have called on many times in prayer, will come again.  We have His Word that He will return for us and that is a Promise to all Believers.  The only thing we have to do to become His child is to whisper HIS NAME and ask Him into our hearts asking for forgiveness of all sin and we will spend all eternity with Him rejoicing and praising God with the angels.  We will see His nail scarred hands and feet and we will see Him just as He is.  If you haven’t called upon the Name of Jesus and haven’t asked Him into your heart, do that today!  Be blessed my Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
